Bel Canto Choir

Musical Director: Robert Webb
Chorus Master/Accompanist: Jonathan Gooing

Bel Canto Choir is an amateur mixed-voice choir of 30 members based in Mexborough, South Yorkshire. Now over 15 years of age, the choir was formed by Barbara Senior and reunited many of her former pupils and colleagues at Wath Grammar School. Always welcoming young musicians, Bel Canto has been augmented over the years by a number of local singers and gifted young music students. The choir has a widening repertoire ranging from classical part-song, devotional music, through to opera and ‘G&S’ to larger repertoire, such as Orff’s Carmina Burana. They have an established based of oratorio works such as those of Handel and Mendelssohn. Concerts have been held in a variety of church locations in South Yorkshire, and by invitation, on Radio Sheffield and at the Dearne Valley Festival.
